How printing on Silicone Wristbands is calculated And why (on first sight) do prices seem to be all over the place?
Why is the costing of printing on Silicone Wristbands so confusing?
That was a question of one of our return customers last week.
They ordered, what they perceived to be similar order as a few weeks ago, but there was quite a price difference on the printing.
I could hear the confusion on the other side of the phone, so I tried my best to explain where the difference came from.
This is when I realised, that for a laymen, the costing of printing on Silicone Wristbands IS confusing.
In fact, after I cleared up everything, the Gentleman I was talking to, made a joke about “those follow the little ball” tricks, where the one pulling the trick always get’s the money.
I was glad that the customer was happy with my reply but, a clear explanation was due, that was obvious!
So here’s a quick overview on how the costing of printing on Silicone Wristbands is calculated.
A good thing to know, and I wanted to make this clear from the start:
One order of silicone wristbands can consist out of multiple wristband colours without any additional cost.
I guess that “No additional cost” is always a good one to start with.
Wouldn’t you say so?
If Silicone wristbands are printed, then this is ususually done by screen printing.
A limitation of this system however is that, only one half of the circumference (-3 mm) of the wristband, can be printed in one print run.
Hence, each half of the circumference is referred to as ONE printing position.
The maximum height of your print, equals the width of the wristband, minus 3 mm
In other words:
If the wristband is 12 mm wide,
Then the print is maximum 9 mm high.
The combination of both, the maximum printing height and maximum printing length, is referred to as the Maximum Printing Area.
Any one colour print (solid colour) print, that falls within the Maximum Print Area, is counted as a one colour, one position, print.
No matter if the print is just one logo, or more logo’s, and or text combined.
However, if another colour needs to be printed, then a second setup, and a second print run is required
Hence the print is calculated as a two colour print in one position.
This leaves us with multiple sets of a, one position – one colour – print, on silicone wristbands.
This means for instance:
If your order is 3 sets of 250 units , each with a different logo, but in the same colour, then this is counted as one 750 units, one colour print, one position order, but with 2 additional setups.
No additional print run is required however, because all wristbands are printed only in one colour in one position.
This should give a good guideline on how printing on Silicone Wristbands Is calculated.
Obviously it’s nearly impossible to show all possible combinations
of printing positions, colours, and different sets per order, but I think I covered most of the frequently asked questions.
